Hip Hop and Rhyme
The form Hip Hop is unique in many ways. One aspect of Hip Hop that makes this form unique is the rhythm of the author's lyrics to the sound of the beat. This technique creates entertainment for listeners which makes them want to dance. According to the book “An Exaltation of Form,” it states “his rapid delivery as well as his quantum leap in rhyme techniques using internal rhyme, slant rhyme, assonance and consonance extensively within one song as well as classic end rhyme patterns completely change the environment and single-handedly sophisticated the listening ability fo the audience” (Morris 224). This technique creates an environment that the listeners enjoy being in. An example of a song that uses this technique is “Rappers Delight” by The Sugar Hill Gang. In this song, the artist rapped about different things that have to do with their lifestyle. The book “ An Exaltation of Forms” also states, “and even though the well know LL Cool J still employes a classic rhyme pattern and refrains exploring unconventional things” (Morris 224). This is another technique that adds to the uniqueness of the form because it includes different topics that listeners can relate to on different levels. These are some of the techniques that make this form of poetry extremely unique.
